Girls should definitely consider a First Communion wreath, which helps highlight a child’s natural beauty. At the same time, let’s remember to ensure that the First Communion wreath complements the entire outfit—when selecting the wreath’s color, shape, and size, we should ensure visual harmony between the child’s appearance and the First Communion outfit.
Tradition and Symbolism of Wreaths
Wreaths have been part of our culture for hundreds of years. Traditionally, they were an integral accessory for girls and unmarried women. That is why wreaths, woven from herbs and flowers, became a symbol of innocence and purity.
In the mid-20th century, wreaths were replaced by bows, tiaras, and veils. Today, wreaths are making a comeback—they’re a staple of First Communion outfits for girls, are increasingly seen on brides’ heads, and have also found their way into everyday life, being used in evening and cocktail looks.
Fresh or artificial?
Certainly, the value of a well-made fresh First Communion wreath cannot be overstated. Its undeniable advantage is its natural look and freshness, which no artificial wreath can match. Undoubtedly, however, the market for artificial wreaths has evolved significantly in recent years. The quality and aesthetic appeal of the craftsmanship, along with the increasing availability of components, mean that artificial wreaths are growing in popularity. Another undeniable advantage is that they can be used throughout the entire First Communion period—not just on the day of the First Holy Communion itself. Furthermore, they are unaffected by temperature, water, or wind—we can be sure that our styling will look attractive throughout the entire celebration. That is why it is common for parents to choose two wreaths.
A bun, a wreath, or a headband.
Here, a lot depends on the type of hair we’re styling. Customers rarely choose a headband because it’s the least eye-catching option. Styling a bun creates a very attractive look, provided the child has long, thick hair. In most cases, however, customers choose to buy a wreath.
How to Choose a Flower Crown Based on Face Shape
It’s also important to objectively consider the color and shape of the wreath—parents often ask us for advice on choosing one. There’s no single right answer to this question, as we believe that in fashion, where there are two people, there are three opinions. Nevertheless, there are a few “golden” rules worth considering.
First, the choice of color should be based, at least to some extent, on the principle of contrast. It’s very rare for a 100% white headband to look good on sandy-blonde hair—in such cases, we generally suggest adding a touch of color, for example, with foam roses.
Second, the presence or absence of bangs is a fairly important factor. For example, wreaths W06 or W15, due to their shape—where the tip rests on the center of the forehead—look good with hair swept back, but they absolutely do not go well with bangs.
A third important factor is face shape—for a petite, delicate face, we suggest choosing a delicate wreath—such as the W02 or W09 wreaths—while richly decorated foam wreaths look better on a fuller face.

When it comes to First Communion outfits, we recommend maintaining a uniform look, so that the children not only look great in group photos but, above all, can focus more on the liturgy. However, the choice of a First Communion wreath depends heavily on the shape of the face, as well as the color and length of the hair. For this reason, choosing the same wreath for the entire group of girls may not be the best solution.
