How should you wash children’s clothes? It’s best to simply use a washing machine at 40 degrees. The maximum allowed temperature should be listed on the care label. Washing the clothes inside out is also a great idea—it helps remove bacteria and dirt from the layer that’s in direct contact with the child’s skin. Dry the clothes on a drying rack or in a tumble dryer. Be sure to iron them—the high temperature from the iron kills all bacteria.
How should you care for christening clothes?
In general, caring for christening clothes isn’t much different from how you care for everyday clothes. However, it’s worth checking what material they’re made of and how to wash them. Most fabrics can be safely washed at 30 degrees.
However, some items—especially dresses with appliqués or lace—are not suitable for machine washing. They require gentle hand washing. You can also use a standard baby laundry detergent for this purpose. It’s best to wash the clothes inside out to reduce the risk of damaging decorative elements. Girls’ clothes are often adorned with rhinestones or lace, and special care must be taken when washing them.
When ironing, you must also be careful not to damage delicate fabrics or embellishments. In this case, it’s best to opt for gentler, steam ironing. Boys’ clothes, such as suits or pants, wrinkle more easily, so it’s best to iron them right before putting them on.
